I think in a cross-cultural context it’s really tempting to trick myself into thinking I need to know more before I can evangelise (know the language better, know the culture better, know more about contextualisation…) I substitute knowledge for obedience and tell myself gaining knowledge is the same thing. It clearly isn’t.

Bingo 🎯we have seen missionaries in our context start, experience complexity, hit a wall, and then spend 3-5 years learning language and contexualizing everything and in the meantime slow down or stop all action engaging lost people. It’s not easy and I don’t have a silver bullet but have definitely seen learning become the distraction from action

"The gap isn’t information. It’s the distance between knowing and actually doing it and that gap doesn’t close by adding more content." Love it! Esp. in light of my mine discovery from the Acts 18-20 study. Filling in the gaps is not just a matter of intellect. It's also getting the reps!
